No job, no boyfriend, no mortgage, SO OFF TO SOUTH AMERICA!

Hello world! My name is Lisa, I’m 29 years old, born in raised in small-town Ojai, population 8,000 in California. After going to school in California, I did the responsible asian thing and went to grad school in California, and then I worked in a couple professional office type jobs doing the same thing…. in California. Yawn…..

This blog is to share what I hope will be a less typical chapter in my life. I’m embarking on an adventure to live in South America. Yes, I guess you could call this a third-life crisis.

A lot of people have asked me why I am going. I think really that if given the option without worrying about money, I would do the following:
-Wake up, eat a smoothie
-Go to dance or yoga or exercise class
-Eat a casual lunch in a park somewhere and read a good book in the shade
-Take language or art classes in the afternoon
-At night, meet up with friends for dinner, coffee, and maybe salsa dancing.
-Take weekends for outdoorsy hikes, day trips to neighboring cities, or the beach.
-If I have to work, do something really really bohemian hippie – like teaching dancing classes, photography or painting pictures for tourists.

It suddenly occurred to me that the above lifestyle is not particularly expensive particularly outside the US, why not try to live this life now?
